Going “green” seems to be a popular trend right now as we continue to see more of these themes in the news, media, politics, and the community. People say that there’s money in green jobs but how do you find them and how does a person transition into that sort of career field?
The Green Long Beach! collaborative community is hosting a workshop called “What the Heck is a ‘Green Collar’ Job?” led by its Education Coordinator Stella Ursua. She will be covering material describing what a “green collar” job is, how to find one, and how to prepare for it with the necessary skills. She will help people to understand the training opportunities available to anyone who would like to join the green workforce.
The workshop will be held on Monday, July 12th at 7:00pm at the Catalyst Space, 430 E. 1st Street, Long Beach, CA 90802 in the East Village Arts District.
Green Long Beach! is a collaborative community of the Catalyst Network of Communities, a 501c3 non-profit organization helping people to connect around shared interests and to make an affect in their neighborhoods. A collaborative community brings together individuals, businesses, and organizations that share a common vision to also share resources. Green Long Beach!’s key areas of focus are community gardens, green jobs, and education.
Ursua says, “we want to provide ongoing education to Long Beach residents about sustainability – techniques, practices, potential careers, home and building energy efficiency methods, and anything else that the general public would like to see us provide over the next year.”
Ursua is also Executive Director for Green Career Institute, a solar power training company. She is also President of Stella Organizational Development.

Long Beach needs jobs – career type jobs! Thank you so much for all you do and sharing this important resource in our city. I hope they find the location they need to start training on solar panels. From what I hear, I think NLB is a perfect location for them! Thanks Eric!
